For Nerta, sustainable innovation is the combination of two important aspects. Nerta develops sustainable products through innovative research in the laboratory. In the R&D, Nerta always aims to optimize the balance between the effectiveness of the product and respect for the environment. Sustainable innovation combines long-term economic success with environmental protection and corporate social responsibility.
All the raw materials used in the Nerta products, meet the REACH directive. REACH is the European Community Regulation on Chemicals and their safe use (EC 1907/2006).
Further, all of the Nerta products are biodegradable for at least 90%.
The surfactants meet the Detergents Regulations (EC 648/2004) and are selected to obtain a maximal biodegradability of the final product.
In the development of new products and improvement of existing products, the Nerta R&D department works in its own lab with raw materials that have a low environmental impact. The latest developments in these matters are closely followed and benchmarked by our contacts with all European chemical suppliers.
On top, Nerta is finalizing the development of a new product range solely based on renewable raw materials.
The Nerta detergent manufacturing plant is one of the most progressive and respectful for the environment within the sector. During the construction of the Nerta detergents plant, the stringent Belgian environmental requirements of VLAREM II were surpassed. A few examples to illustrate this:
- The complete factory is constructed in such a way that it is not connected to the sewer. In this way, no polluted water reaches the sewer.
- The rainwater that is collected – from the 6000m² roof – gets stored in a buffer tank and is used as production water after purification.
- The production process is fully computer-controlled and uses a closed-vessel system. In this way, unhealthy vapours and fumes are excluded.
Nerta is preparing an ISO 14001-certification that should be finalized in the second quarter of 2011.
Nerta values the balance between man and nature. Both in the Nerta production process and in the development of the Nerta products, the conservation of the environment takes precedence.
Nerta disposes of two production plants on both sides of the same street in Lokeren.
Nerta Plant 1
The Nerta Products chemical production plant is based in Lokeren, Brandstraat 15. Nerta manufactures its products in this ultramodern factory since 1/1/2000. The factory has a surface of 6.000m² on a territory of 10.000m². The premises are equipped with a fully computerized production system having a capacity of more than 100 ton a day. The tank park has the possibility to keep 400 ton of raw materials in stock.
In this plant, Nerta also disposes of a state-of-the-art Quality Control Laboratory.
Nerta Plant 1 is where the Headquarters of the Nerta Group are situated and where the general and sales services have their office.
The production and warehousing facilities of Nerta Plant 1 are ready to support the ambitious expansion plans of Nerta.
Nerta Plant 2
As from 1/1/2011, the workshop of Nerta Technics occupies 1000m² at Brandstraat 12. At this plant, the stainless steel construction and electronics assemblage is the main activity.
The Computer Aided Design of the Nerta Technics Machinery is also done here.
The general services and customer service department of Nerta Technics have their offices in Plant 2.
In the large laboratory, the development of the newest Nerta Products is done using the most modern analysis equipment.
On the first floor, a fully equipped 250m² Training Centre is hosting training sessions and seminars for distributors and end-customers from around the world.
